Check out our new wall art
Apollo Elementary is excited about their new wall art displayed on the front of the school building! The artist is Chris Opp who has been commissioned to do several projects in town such as Airline High School, Bossier City Welcome signs, and Margaritaville. This is the first 3-D sign Chris has done. Chris also has a showing of his works at the Bossier Arts Council until the end of July.

Celebrate with LEAP Scores
May 30, 2014
Dear Parents and Students,
I am so honored and proud that Superintendent D.C. Machen informed me that Apollo had the highest percentages proficient in the entire parish on the LEAP tests!!!! We were even higher than all the middle and high schools on state testing. We had 100% proficient on the LEAP Math test and 96% proficient on the LEAP ELA tests. Our ILEAP percentages were all in the mid to high 80%’s as well. Mr. Machen asked me to convey his excitement and pride to my faculty, students and parents. He knows that it was the hard work of everyone this past year that resulted in such high scores.
I was able to let the students and teachers know about our high scores before they left. We celebrated with lunch for the teachers and an ice cream party for the entire school. Thank you so much for your support! Please join us in celebrating our fantastic test results and a wonderful school year! See you in August!

KNOW SOMEONE WHO DESERVES A GOLD STAR?
There are plenty of them at Bossier Schools. You know the ones. Those who go above and beyond the call of duty. Those whose actions exceed their job description.
There is no question the employees of Bossier Schools are what set our school system apart. From teachers and custodians to food service workers and counselors, they are all an important part of the Bossier Schools family and we want to recognize the ones who deserve a gold star.
Last year, nine “Gold Stars” were singled out and awarded. Now, we are ready to do it for a second year, thanks again to the gracious support of Bossier Federal Credit Union.
Here’s how it works. If you would like to recognize someone as a “Gold Star” award recipient, nominate them!
When you go to www.BossierSchools.org just click on the gold star at the top of the home page.
It does not matter if you are a parent, colleague or community member. Anyone can nominate a Bossier Schools employee to be a “Gold Star.” Each month new entries will be accepted and judged by a committee. So keep nominating those that are deserving of a special pat on the back.
Let us hear from you who deserves the gold!
THANK YOU TO OUR CORPORATE SPONSORS!
